MacBook Air gets a performance upgrade, but it’s not what you think

More RAM for the same price

MacBook Air gets a performance upgrade, but it’s not what you think

For a long time, Apple’s MacBook Air lineup has had 8GB of base RAM, with an option to upgrade to 16GB or 24GB, depending on the model. Now, however, Apple has surprised fans by launching a 16GB RAM option as the base variant, making all the Apple MacBooks have the same base RAM option.

Despite its RAM bump, Apple has kept the price of the 16GB variant the same as the old 8GB variant. So, if you plan to purchase a new affordable MacBook Air, read on to see its price, features, and availability.

MacBook Air’s 16GB variant costs the same as the 8GB variant

Apple’s MacBook Air with 16GB of RAM or what Apple calls, the Unified Memory, now costs Rs 99,900, the same price as the 8GB RAM variant earlier. This is nothing but good news for those who planned to purchase the MacBook Air but were uncertain due to its lower 8GB of base RAM.

Users requiring higher RAM had to pay more to get the 16GB RAM variant. Other than the RAM, the rest of the specifications remain the same. The MacBook Air has M2 and M3 chip models.

The M2 MacBook Air has an 8-core CPU and an 8-core GPU. It comes with 256GB of storage. The M3 MacBook Air has two options, one with an 8-core CPU and an 8-core GPU, and another option that has an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. M3 MacBook Air starts with 256GB of storage and goes up to 512GB of storage.
