You can finally buy LG’s futuristic transparent TV, if you’re Bruce Wayne

It can also be a great addition for your PlayStation 5, if you can afford it

You can finally buy LG’s futuristic transparent TV, if you’re Bruce Wayne

Remember the Rabbit R1 AI personal assistant from CES 2024? We don’t either. But what we do remember from the cool stuff that was at the expo almost a year ago, was a transparent TV by LG – the LG Signature OLED T. This was a TV that could throw a bright picture output when turned on, but also magically disappear when turned off. Now, LG has finally launched the prototype-esque TV globally.

However, tech of the futuristic kind is often expensive, and the LG Signature OLED T is a perfect example of tech that you can (but probably shouldn’t) spend way too much money on. Here’s everything that you need to know about the LG Signature OLED T.

LG Signature OLED T: What’s new?

The LG Signature OLED T is an OLED TV at its core, with its display panel powered by self-illuminating pixels, just like any other OLED TV. However, the key difference is that the panel can go from an opaque panel to a transparent one at the push of a button.

There is a big aquarium-like look to the whole setup, but this neat trick allows for a lot of creative installation options, including putting the TV in front of a window. When in transparent mode, any element will be displayed on top of the glass, and will appear as if it is floating in the air. To actually enjoy what you’re watching, you will have to put the TV in opaque mode, which is when a roll-up panel will come up from the mechanism underneath.

The TV also has some other great features, including a fully wireless design and downward-firing speakers. It supports 4K resolutions and comes with 120Hz refresh rate, which means you can even connect this to a gaming laptop or a PlayStation 5 and enjoy your favourite titles without compromising on the frame-rate.

For all this, LG will charge you about $60,000, which is about Rs 51,10,800. You can get a lot else for that price, including an expensive car, or a small flat in some areas. Whether putting over half a crore on a futuristic TV is the right thing to do, we leave to you.

Do note that the TV is currently available to buy in select regions like the US, and LG has mentioned that availability details for some other regions will be made official at a later time.
