Lenovo newest tablet aims at the sweet spot between budget and premium

The Lenovo Tab P12 packs a punch, but not a high price tag

Lenovo newest tablet aims at the sweet spot between budget and premium

Unlike the market for entry-level tablets, the one for mid-range and premium tablets isn’t exactly brimming with competition. With brands like Lenovo and Realme sticking to entry-level tablets, those who want a little more oomph from their tablets for content creation or other work were left with Samsung’s Tab S-series or the Apple iPads. For the Rs 30,000 – Rs 40,000 segment, you have even fewer options. That’s the market Lenovo is aiming for with its newest tablet – the Lenovo Tab P12.

Unlike the brand’s budget offerings, the Tab P12 comes with fairly competitive specifications including a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chip, a 12.7-inch LCD display and JBL quad-speakers. The tablet will also be available with 8GB RAM for those who will be dealing with a multitude of apps. Here’s everything you need to know about the tablet.

Lenovo Tab P12 top features and specifications

The Lenovo Tab P12 comes with a 12.7-inch, 3K (2944 x 1840 pixels) LCD display with 400 nits of brightness, and 96% DCI-P3 colour coverage. The 60Hz panel is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which isn’t the latest in the business, but still better than no protection rating at all. The tablet is also encased within a metal body.

Under the hood is a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset, which will coupled with 8GB LPDDR4x RAM, and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. Those who need more storage can expand the same with a dedicated microSD card slot that supports up to 1TB storage.

Other features include support for Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 and stylus support, although the latter will have to be purchased separately. The Lenovo Tab P12 also comes with quad-speakers by JBL, which will provide gamers and movie-watchers with a superior audio experience.

Lastly, the tablet also comes with a 13MP rear and an 8MP front camera. The whole package is kept ticking by a 10,200mAh battery. Users also get dual microphones for calls, Android 13 out of the box, and a capacitive fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button.

Lenovo Tab P12 pricing and availability

Priced at Rs 34,999, the tablet is sandwiched between the budget and premium tablet markets, rivalling entries like the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE and the OnePlus Pad, both of which are slightly more expensive than the Lenovo P12.

While you’re unlikely to pick this tablet over an iPad or Samsung’s higher-end tablets, it may just be what you’re looking for if you want a decently powerful tablet that’s great for consuming media, and even playing games. While you may be able to get work done on this tablet too, don’t expect it to be able to punch above its weight.
