Lava Shark launched at Rs 6,999, dupes iPhone 16 Pro’s design

Indian smartphone brand Lava has built a reputation for delivering value-for-money devices, and its latest offering is no exception. Enter the Lava Shark, a budget smartphone priced under Rs 7,000 that promises minimal compromises while packing in some surprising features.

With standout specs like a 120Hz refresh rate, a 50MP primary camera, and a 5,000mAh battery, the Lava Shark looks to shake up the entry-level segment. But what’s even more intriguing is its design – the rear panel bears an uncanny resemblance to the premium iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max, right down to the square camera island.

Lava Shark: Specifications and features

The Lava Shark sports a 6.67-inch HD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate, which is impressive given its rarely seen at this price point. It features a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera, adding to its premium aesthetic.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the Unisoc T606 octa-core chipset, paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. On the camera front, it offers a 50MP primary sensor, complemented by an 8MP front camera for selfies. There are also various camera modes such as AI Mode, Portrait Pro, HDR, and Pro Mode.

The phone is backed by a large 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. It runs Android 14 out of the box, with minimal bloatware.

Other features include dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and IP54-rated dust and water resistance. If you’re looking for other options at a similar price point, you can check out the Redmi A3 or the Realme C55.
