2025 has been a busy one for Apple so far. From notable updates to new products, the brand has been in the headlines for a while now, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down just yet. Not long after launching the affordable iPhone 16e, Apple took everyone by surprise by unveiling the MacBook Air M4, iPad Air M3, and the new iPad (2025).
While the latest iPad Air features a significant update with the new M3 chipset, several were left wondering if the iPad 11th gen (2025) holds a candle against its predecessor — iPad 10 gen (2022). So, if you’re looking for an upgrade but aren’t sure where to begin, we help simplify this for you.
Apple iPad 11th gen (2025): What's new?
The iPad 11th gen is Apple’s successor to the entry-level iPad, which is often denoted by the chipset that powers it. In this case, it is referred to as the iPad (A16), and it also is the most affordable of the lot. It succeeds the iPad (A14) or iPad 10th gen, which has been around for the past two and half years.
While Apple hasn’t deployed the latest SoC for the new iPad, it still brings in a long-due update. That said, those expecting the new tablet to come with Apple Intelligence will be a tad disappointed, as the current variant does not come with built-in AI features.
iPad 11th gen vs iPad 10th gen: Design and display
Apple generally doesn’t stray away from its designs, and since the iPad 10th gen got a design refresh in 2022, you won’t see a lot of changes on the iPad 2025. In fact, right from its facade and down to its colours, a lot about the new iPad will seem familiar.

This may be a little disappointing for those waiting for a fresh look, but it still makes for good news, as the accessories, like Apple’s Magic Keyboard, will remain useful if you plan to upgrade your device.
Additionally, the new iPad also features the same camera setup, landscape speakers, USB Type-C port at the bottom, as well as the Touch ID power button. And if that’s nearly not enough, Apple has not even changed the colours, meaning users get the standard Blue, Pink, Yellow, and Silver colourway options to choose from.

On the display front, both iPads still share the same LCD panel with a resolution of 2360 x 1640 pixels. This detail, along with 500 nits of peak brightness, remains unchanged for the iPad 2025. That said, the new iPad does get a slightly larger display (11 inches), as compared to the older, 10.9-inch variant.
iPad 11th gen vs iPad 10th gen: Performance and connectivity
The older A14 Bionic chipset on the iPad 2022 gets replaced by the A16 Bionic chip on the iPad 2025. Although not the latest, it still marks a significant upgrade when compared with its predecessor. However, the A16 chipset is still not good enough to house Apple’s native artificial intelligence features.

Apart from this, the iPad 11th gen gets Bluetooth 5.3 compared to the iPad 10th gen’s Bluetooth 5.2. Apart from that, it also comes with enhanced HDR capabilities for its front and rear cameras.
iPad 11th gen vs iPad 10th gen: Camera and battery life
On the camera front, the iPad 2025 gets the same 12MP rear camera that comes with 5x digital zoom and smart HDR. For selfies and video conferencing, both tablets boast a 12MP Center Stage with 2X zoom, extended dynamic range, as well as cinematic video stabilisation.
While Apple does not reveal the battery capacity for its devices, it is interesting to note that both devices house a similar battery life as well. According to the brand, both the iPad 2022 and iPad 2025 come with an estimated 10 hours of video playback and web-surfing time.
iPad 11th gen vs iPad 10th gen: Should you upgrade?
A key difference between the two iPads is the availability of storage. Apple has reportedly discontinued the 64GB option, and the base model now begins with a 128GB only. Apart from that, the new model also gets a 512GB option, whereas the iPad 10 is capped at 256GB only. The iPad 2025 starts at Rs 34,900 for the base variant, whereas the iPad 2022 is currently available on croma.com for Rs 28,190.
If you already have the iPad 10th gen, you don’t necessarily need to bump up to an upgraded variant. While you get the new chipset, you may not find a lot of difference when it comes to performance. That said, if you’re new to tablets or are looking for a good mix of specifications, features and price, the iPad 11 gen will certainly make a useful addition for you. Whether or not the brand plans to bring in Apple Intelligence to this particular lineup is also something that remains to be seen.
