Apple has introduced new iPhone charging limit options on iOS 18 that lets you maintain your iPhone’s battery health for a prolonged period. iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 users on the latest iOS no longer have to set their battery charge limit to 80 per cent for preserving the battery, as there are more options added, making it beneficial for those keeping their devices plugged in for a long time.
How to access iPhone charging limits
The new charging options are hidden in the battery setting on your iPhone. But as mentioned above, the options are only available on the latest iPhone 16 and a year older iPhone 15 models. Follow the steps below to access the new iPhone Charge Limit options.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Click on Battery.
Step 3: Tap Charging.
Step 4: Now, you should see five charge limits, such as 80 per cent, 85 per cent, 90 per cent, and 95 per cent. Except for 80 per cent, all other charging limits are new. Depending on your preference, you can set the charge limit.

Why should you set charging limit on your iPhone?
Setting a charge limit on your iPhone is important if you want to keep your iPhone’s battery health preserved. How? When a charge limit is set on the iPhone, for instance – 85 per cent, the device learns your charging pattern, knowing when you charge and discharge. This prevents your iPhone from reaching 100 per cent quickly, hence completing a full charge cycle and decreasing the battery health.
So, it’s always a great idea to set a charge limit on your iPhone, and with the new options, it’s more convenient for users. And as mentioned above, keeping your iPhone at 80-90 per cent can help you prolong the battery inside your iPhone, so you can keep using your device for more years without replacing the battery.
