AirTags are great as they help us locate our gadgets, pets, and even luggage. But what if we despite using an AirTag lose our stuff at the airport and only know about it when we reach home? This is where an upcoming AirTag feature may help you.
Apple in iOS 18.2 is working on a new feature that allows you to share your AirTag’s last location with a third-party, like an airline employee, allowing you to easily locate your lost items. Let’s see how this feature will work and end up saving your time and money.
iOS 18.2 will help you to easily locate your lost items with an AirTag
According to MacRumors, iOS 18.2 beta 2 has added a new feature to the Find My app, which lets you share a lost item’s location with a trusted person, provided you have an AirTag attached to it. As per the feature’s pop-up screen, it is meant to help you locate your lost items through, say an airline employee.
So, for instance, if you had three bags to be carried with you from the airport and by chance you missed getting the third one and only knew about it later, then you can locate your AirTag-attached bag by sharing its last location with an airline employee. Later, you can collect your bag from the airline.

This is a simple yet handy feature called ‘Share Item Location’ that lets you share AirTag’s location directly with a third-party. On Apple devices, the link will open in the Find My app, and on non-Apple devices, it will open on a web page with a map displaying the item’s last location.
While this feature appears to be very handy and convenient for frequent travellers, among others, it isn’t available to the public just yet. The feature comes as a part of iOS 18.2 beta 2. The public version of iOS 18.2 drops in December and that’s when you will be able to use the feature. So, you’ll have to wait for it to arrive.
iOS 18.2 will not only bring this feature, but some other useful features too. Apple Intelligence, which is Apple’s AI suite, will get the Image Playground feature letting you create AI-generated images. Siri will also get ChatGPT integration in the update.

The update will also bring some changes to Notes, allowing you to create images within a note, and bring mail app badges. All these features can be accessed on compatible iPhones starting in December once iOS 18.2 is available to the public.
