Gamers, we have some good news for you. After months of doing the rounds in the rumour mills, Intel has, at long last, launched the Core i9-14900KS processor for desktops. The processor, which is Intel’s current flagship, boasts some pretty insane specs. Here’s all you need to know.
Intel Core i9-14900KS key specifications
The Intel Core i9-14900KS gets 24 cores, with eight of them being performance-oriented, and 16, efficiency-oriented. In addition to this, there are 32 threads, 36MB of Intel Smart Cache, and 20 PCIe lanes.
If you’re wondering what all this means for you, it results in a clock speed of as much as 6.2GHz. What’s more, bearing in mind how this is just the clock speed on the processor out-of-the-box, it could theoretically go even higher, with some room for overclocking.

This means the processor will be able to handle all the triple-A titles, or heavy editing that you throw at it, without breaking a sweat. Intel says that the processor offers up to 15 per cent better performance in gaming than its predecessor – the Intel Core i9-13900KS. The processor also gets Intel Gaming Optimiser (APO), which on supported titles, guarantees an additional 11 per cent boost in performance.
That’s not all. The processor, as per Intel, also offers up to 73 per cent better performance when it comes to 3D rendering when compared to the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X processor, its closest competitor.
Intel has also increased the TDP of the processor to 150W, which is 25W higher than any other model in the Raptor Lake series. This means that in essence, the processor should be way more efficient than its predecessors under maximum load.
