Samsung’s new Galaxy S25 series smartphones are a big deal right now, thanks to improvements in performance, AI features, and camera capabilities.
Many of these new features use Samsung’s extensive Galaxy AI suite, which brings various artificial intelligence powered capabilities to the new devices ranging from generative AI, to even helping you plan your work and trips. One such new feature on OneUI 7 for Samsung devices is ‘Instant Slow-Motion Video’, which uses Galaxy AI to turn even ordinary videos into dramatic slow-motion masterpieces.
If you’re wondering how the new feature works, take a look at the detailed steps to achieve magical slow-motion videos below. This works on OneUI 7, which is currently available for the new Samsung Galaxy S25 series of devices, including the S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra. However, OneUI 7 will be coming to older Samsung Galaxy devices as well, in the coming months.
Instant Slow-Motion video on OneUI: How does it work?
Instant slow-motion video on OneUI 7 is very easy to use, and works with the Samsung Gallery app on a device running on the latest version of Samsung’s OneUI for Android. For now, you can use the new feature only on the Samsung Galaxy S25 series of smartphones, going from the compact Samsung Galaxy S25 all the way up to the premium and powerful Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Open the gallery app, and head over to any video that you have recorded. This doesn’t need to be a slow-motion video recording and can be shot at any frame rate and resolution. However, the higher the native frame rate and resolution of the video clip, the better you can expect the results to be. So it’s best to use videos with a frame rate of at least 60fps, as well as at least Full HD resolution.
While the feature will technically work with any video clip including those transferred onto the device, the format and compatibility requirements mean that it’s best used with video clips shot on the Samsung Galaxy S25 camera itself, or whichever device is running OneUI 7.
While the video is playing, simply tap and hold anywhere on the screen to instantly slow down the video clip, which will be denoted by a soft flash on the screen to tell you that the feature is at work. Galaxy AI then creates a smooth and flowing slow-motion effect for the video clip, thanks to AI frame generation
Usefully, you can also save the instant slow-motion generated video clip later. If you’ve been holding and watching the video in AI-powered slow-motion, you’ll get a prompt on screen to save the slow-mo video clip to your device. Just tap the icon, and the instant slow-motion video is saved as a standalone video clip to your device.
