CES 2024 brought some incredible laptops to the tablet this year, including the dual-screen Asus ZenBook Duo, the LG Gram Pro 2-in-1 laptops, and the Lenovo Thinkbook 13x Gen 4, which features an e-ink prism screen at the back of the laptop’s display and can support up to 1,000 different images.
However, one laptop that particularly caught our eye was HP’s Omen Transcend 14. The device, quite simply put, is the world’s lightest gaming laptop. And now, the company has (finally) launched it in the Indian market. Here’s everything you need to know.
1. HP Omen Transcend 14: Design
The HP Omen Transcend 14 is a far cry from the sea of bulky, almost unwieldy gaming laptops available in the market today. The machine, packed in an all-metallic chassis, is just 14-inches in size, about 18mm thick, and weighs in at just 1.64 kg, making it as good as any other Ultrabook, in terms of portability.

The laptop also gets an HP True Vision 1080p IR camera with an FHD resolution and integrated dual array digital microphones. There’s also a full-size four-zone RGB backlit keyboard, meaning streaming and gaming together isn’t a hassle at all.
2. HP Omen Transcend 14: Performance and storage
Now, don’t let the thin-and-light design of the HP Omen Transcend 14 fool you into thinking that it is a slouch. The device packs an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor, with a maximum clock speed of as much as 4.8Ghz with Intel Turbo Boost technology, with 16GB LPPDR5x RAM and a 1TB SSD.
This is coupled to an 8GB DDR6 Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU. Which for you, means it can handle all the Triple-A title games or heavy photo and video editing you throw at it all day, without breaking a sweat.
3. HP Omen Transcend 14: Battery life
The HP Omen Transcend 14 gets a 6-cell 71 71-Whr battery, which HP claims can last users over eight hours on a full charge. What’s more, the 140W USB Type-C power adapter can also charge the device from 0 to 50 per cent in about 30 minutes.
If true, this should mean all day use should be a breeze, and you needn’t carry your charger everywhere with you. However, running what sort of tasks and on which settings to squeeze out said battery life on the device, remains to be seen as of now.
4. HP Omen Transcend 14: Display and audio
Again, despite its lightweight design, HP has not skimped on the display for the device. The HP Omen Transcend 14 gets a 14-inch 2.8K resolution OLED display, with a peak brightness of 500 nits.
What’s cool is, that the display is also IMAX certified, and has a refresh rate of between 48 to 120Hz, which can vary depending on what sorts of tasks you’re running on it, and if you’re looking to save battery.

For audio, there is a side-firing dual-speaker setup on the device, tuned by HyperX.
5. HP Omen Transcend 14: Connectivity and operating system
The HP Omen Transcend 14 gets two USB Type-C ports with a signaling rate of 40GBPS and 10GBPS respectively, both of which also get DisplayPort 1.4 support, two USB Type-A ports, both with a 10GBPS signaling rate, an HDMI 2.1 port, as well as a 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack.
The laptop comes pre-installed with Windows 11 Home, straight out of the box.
HP Omen Transcend 14: Pricing and availability
HP’s new thin-and-light gaming laptop, the Omen Transcend 14, is available in two colourways – Black and White. The device is priced at Rs 1,74,999 and can be purchased from HP authorised stores as well as it’s website. The device can also be picked up from all major e-commerce portals and partner retail outlets across India.
A few other options one can consider in the price range are the Asus ROG Strix G16, and the Lenovo Legion Slim 5i.
