Due to the daily wear and tear, there might come a day when one of the physical buttons on your smartphone stops working. And if that involves your power button, the struggle is real. The power button is one of the lifelines of your smartphone that lets you turn on or off your device, restart it, and even dial emergency numbers.
If you are looking for ways to turn your smartphone without a power button, we have curated a few ways to make your task easier. Here are the different ways in which you can switch on your phone without having to use the power button.
1. Turn on using a soft reboot technique
If you are fortunate enough, your mobile will turn on after you plug it into the charging adapter. But in most cases, it won’t start charging until the existing battery drains entirely. In such cases, you must soft-reboot your mobile.
To do this on an Android phone, plug the charging adapter into the socket and press the volume up (+) key and the volume down (-) key together for about 20 seconds. Your device will start to boot, and once the boot is complete, the device will turn on again.

Apple iPhone users need to plug in their mobile device with the USB adapter. Unlike Android phones, if your phone battery is not dead, it will start charging immediately, and the phone will turn on. If the phone’s battery is dead, it will take a little longer to turn your phone on.
2. Turn on using a computer
If you have a laptop or desktop at home, connect your Android smartphone to your computer using the data cable that came with your device. A few seconds later, your phone screen will turn on. You will get a pop-up saying, “Are you using the USB cable for charging only or data transmission?” on your phone’s home screen. Choose the “data transmission option”, and the device will start to boot.
iPhone users can also follow a similar approach. If you have an iPhone 15 series phone, simply connect the USB Type-C to the USB Type-C cable that came with your device. Older iPhone users can also use the USB Type-A to Lightning cable that came with their phones to connect to any Windows or macOS-based device.

3. Restarting phone using ADB
This method works on Android exclusively. You need to enable the developer options on your smartphone and activate the USB debugging. To do this, go to Settings, and tap on About phone. Now, tap on the Build number 7-10 times until a notification pops up displaying “You are now a developer”. Now, head back to the Settings screen, and choose Developer options. Click on the USB debugging option. Connect your phone to a computer via a USB cable, and you will get a pop-up stating, “USB debugging is connected”.
Download the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) on your computer and look for the C:\adb directory. Open the command prompt by typing “cmd” in the location directory, type “adb devices “, and press Enter. Your IMEI number of the connected phone will be displayed on the computer screen. Type “adb reboot” once again in the command prompt and press Enter.
With these simple ways, you can easily unlock or turn on your Android or iOS smartphone seamlessly without the power button.
