How to transfer files from your Android phone to your MacBook

It is a common assumption that MacBook and Android devices are completely incompatible, and it is therefore a hassle to transfer files between the two. However, we’re here to tell you that that’s not really the case. Read on!

Here are a few quick and easy methods for transferring files from your Android device to a MacBook.

1. Using a USB cable connection

One of the simplest ways to transfer files between your devices, is using a USB cable to connect your Android phone to your MacBook. Following this, swipe down the notification bar on your Android device and tap “File Transfer” or “File Sharing.” Your Android device should now show up on your MacBook as an external drive. To access the folders and files on your smartphone through your MacBook, open it. From there, all you have to do is drag your preferred files to your MacBook’s local folders.

2. Using Google Drive

A viable cloud-based option for sharing files between your devices is Google Drive. On your Android device, download the Google Drive app and log in with your Google account. To transfer the files, all you have to do is browse your files on your device and upload the same to your Google Drive account via the “Share” option.

Now, to access these devices on your MacBook, open your preferred browser and navigate to Google Drive, logging into your account using the same credentials as on your Android. Now, all you have to do is search for those files and download them to your MacBook after logging in, to the same Google account.

3. Via email or messaging apps

You can transmit smaller files to your Mac using messaging or email apps. On your Android device, using your preferred mailing app, send yourself an email with the files you wish to transfer to your MacBook. Now, all you have to do is access the same account on your MacBook, and you should see the files there. Download these files to your MacBook, and you’re good to go!

So you see, it isn’t necessarily difficult to transfer files from your Android device to your MacBook. There are a variety of options to pick from, to ensure your files are synced between the two devices seamlessly, and that you work never gets hampered.
