Spotify today does a lot more than stream music. From interactive year-end insights with Spotify Wrapped to short music videos on the platform, Spotify has consistently prioritised user experience. The smartphone streaming app has just introduced another fun feature that allows users to create a custom playlist art without leaving the app. Here’s what it can do and how to make your very own:
Spotify introduces custom album art
Spotify, by default, lets users upload their playlist cover on its web and smartphone app. Be it a picture you clicked or an image from the internet, all you have to do is follow certain dimensions and guidelines. However, there are a few steps you can follow to create your own playlist ‘art’. Here’s how to go about it:
Step 1: Select the playlist you require custom art for
Step 2: Tap the three-dot menu on the right side of the playlist
Step 3: Select the ‘Create Cover Art’ option in the list
Step 4: Once you’re on the design page, you can add text, change its font, play around with the style, and even add a gradient or background image
Step 5: Whenever you’re done, you can tap ‘Finish’ and your playlist should start reflecting the image

It is crucial to note that this step will replace your existing cover art, and you may have to upload it again if you change your mind. You also don’t have the option of saving multiple artworks for your playlist, meaning you might just have to create new ones each time you decide to refresh it.
When will custom playlist art be available for all Spotify users?
Custom playlist art is now available for Spotify users enrolled in the beta program. Those users that aren’t may just have to wait for the feature to roll out to a larger audience. Unlike other additions, Spotify hasn’t limited the feature to the Premium tier and has ensured all users have access to it.
