How to get iOS 18 right now on your iPhone

Apple announced iOS 18 as well as other announcements at WWDC 2024. With several customisation features, and lots of other changes, iOS 18 has a lot to explore. Unfortunately, the stable version of iOS 18 is still over a month away.

However, for those who absolutely cannot wait to get a taste of the new operating system, there is a way to get iOS 18 right now – the developer beta build of the software. That’s right; you can now download and install an early access version of iOS 18 on supported iPhones.

However, do keep in mind that like most early-access software, the beta build for iOS 18 is likely to be full of bugs and other issues. This may even include compatibility issues with some of your most-used apps including banking apps. That’s why we recommend you dabble with beta builds only if the iPhone in question is not your primary phone.

With that out of the way, here’s how you can install iOS 18 on your phone right away.

How to install the iOS 18 update right now

Enrolling for the developer program: On supported iPhones (iPhone XS and later), simply head to the Apple Developer Website, and hit the three-dash menu on the top-left to get into the Account section. Sign in with your Apple ID if you haven’t already. You can now read the Apple Developer Agreement and check all the boxes and tap on Submit.

Installing the iOS 18 beta update: To find and install the beta update, head to Settings > General > Software Update, and go into the Beta Updates option.

Find and tap on the iOS 18 Developer Beta option here and then tap on Download and Install on the next screen.

Keep in mind that if you do not see the iOS 18 developer beta card immediately, you may have to wait out a little longer for the update. Enter your passcode and wait for the phone to install the update. Note that the phone may restart a couple of times during this.

Viola! You have just installed the beta version of iOS 18 on your iPhone. You can now try out all the cool features, except the Apple Intelligence suite, which will be released later this year.
