Yesterday, ChatGPT announced a new native image generation feature powered by the GPT-4o model, and internet users are lapping it up! Post the update, the internet was filled with images transformed by ChatGPT into distinct Studio Ghibli-style photos. We ourselves tried our hand at it in the Unboxed by Croma studio! Similarly, users are transforming all kinds of pictures, including family photos, memes, and more, into the iconic anime style.

Studio Ghibli, founded by Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, and Toshio Suzuki, is a well-known Japanese animation studio, recognised for its distinct hand-drawn animation. If you want to create your own Ghibli-style portrait using the new ChatGPT feature for free, here’s a handy guide to do just that!
How to create Studio Ghibli style photos using ChatGPT?
Fortunately, ChatGPT has made it pretty easy to access this feature. Let’s go over how you can make Studio Ghibli-like photos on ChatGPT:
Step 1: Head to ChatGPT’s website or open the ChatGPT application.
Step 2: At the top of the page, click on the ‘ChatGPT’ dropdown and ensure ChatGPT 4o is selected.
Step 3: Next, click on the + button on the website or the image icon on the app.
Step 4: Upload the photo you want to transform into a Studio Ghibli-style portrait
Step 5: Enter your prompt and enjoy! Do note, it takes a couple of minutes for ChatGPT to process the transformed image, so be patient.

Limitations of Studio Ghibli image generation feature on ChatGPT
The ChatGPT Studio Ghibli trend has gone viral, with many users and brands creating amazing renditions. However, it has some limitations. While ChatGPT can generate text for these images, it cannot produce text that includes a brand’s trademark or copyrighted material. Keep this in mind when trying the feature out.
Additionally, the update hasn’t rolled out to all free users yet, so you may have to wait a while, or use a lucky friend’s account which already has access to the new feature.
