How to close all incognito tabs in one go on Chrome

Incognito mode is a private browsing feature available on Google Chrome. It allows you to keep your internet activity private from others using the same device. Since it does not see your browsing history, cached pages, or cookies, no one else who uses the same device will be able to see what you have browsed on the web.

You can use incognito mode to access any website without letting anyone else know. Some of the use cases include accessing multiple accounts on the same website, avoiding personalised ads, online banking, sensitive searches, testing a website or app if you are a developer, and more.

Now, Google Chrome is known for consuming a lot of RAM. Having multiple tabs opened in incognito mode will not only clutter your browsing experience, but may also affect the performance of your PC. Fortunately, there are simple and effective ways to close all tabs at once, whether you are using Chrome on a laptop or a smartphone.

How to close all incognito tabs on a Windows or Mac PC

Here are the steps to close all of the incognito tabs in Chrome at once while using it on a Windows or Mac.

2. Browse a couple of websites through multiple tabs in incognito mode.

3. You can click on the “X” button available at the top-right corner of the incognito window to close all the tabs within that window simultaneously. Alternatively, you can install a Chrome extension named “Close Tabs” to close all tabs at once. This can be done by navigating to the three-dot icon on the top right > More Tools > Task Manager on Windows. On a Mac, you can navigate to Window > Task Manager.

You should be aware of the fact that closing all incognito tabs will erase your browsing history, cookies, and other site data associated with those tabs. If you need to save any information, make sure to do so before closing the tabs.

Note that you are not completely anonymous online when you access the incognito mode. Your internet service provider, employer, or the website you visit may track your browsing activity. To browse the internet completely anonymously, you can use a virtual private network (VPN) service.
