Instagram will soon let you add as many as 20 audio tracks to your Reel

Instagram has progressed from being a photo-sharing smartphone app to a video-first platform. Over the course of years, the Meta-owned company has not shied away from introducing various developments and features to ensure a smooth user experience. Only recently, the app integrated the Meta AI chatbot into the platform, and it can now generate images, text and even answer queries for users.

In more recent developments, Instagram announced that creators will soon be able to add multiple tracks to their Reels, and even create a mix of their own.

How to add multiple tracks to your Instagram Reel

Instagram has announced the feature with an aim to expand creative flexibility for users by giving them the ability to visually align audio with elements like text, stickers, and clips. Before the update, creators were typically only allowed to add one track or add a pre-mixed track of their own to their Reels.

However, the new update will allow them to stack multiple audio clips together and even mix them up to create a new clip altogether. If that’s not all, the social media app also announced how this track will be attributed to the creator and can be used again if required.

To add multiple tracks to your Reel, all you have to do is tap on the ‘add to the mix’ button featured on your Reel editor. Once you do, you will be able to add more songs which can either overlap an existing sound on your Reel or be stacked next to another one.

When will the Instagram Reels multiple audio feature be available to everyone?

Instagram has rolled out the feature globally and is making it available to a larger audience in a phased manner. In case it hasn’t reached you yet, make sure your app is updated to the latest version. Instagram’s move to introduce multiple tracks for Reels is aimed at encouraging users to create more short-form content.

As announced in the past, the platform doesn’t intend to promote long form as it ‘undermines’ the app’s core identity that helps people connect with their friends.
