Recently, Threads introduced a new feature that allows its users to share their custom feeds. The feature was announced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and the idea is that Threads users can pin a custom feed to their homepage. With this feature, other Threads users can view the same stream of curated content seen by you.
Instagram Threads: Custom feed and sharing feature
To recall, Instagram Threads had first introduced custom feeds in November last year. Back then, the social media giant hinted at the feature being a way for Threads users to track their favourite topic or accounts on the platform. In a way, it was a solution to the constant back and forth around chronological feed and people’s inability to view content the way they liked on the platform.

In order to make a custom feed on Threads, all you need to do is search for a topic, then click on the three dots next to the search bar, and then click on the “Create new feed” option. Once you have created your custom feed, you can add a new one from search or from the three dots menu next to feed on desktop.
You can also add individual accounts to custom feeds and give Threads a better footing to compete with Bluesky, which is not only growing in popularity but offers the option to create custom feeds.
Threads by Instagram: How to share your custom feed with others
While Threads launched as a direct competitor to Twitter (now X), the platform has essentially found itself in a unique competition with Bluesky. On January 29, 2025, Bluesky announced crossing 30 million users after its CEO Jay Graber had claimed in November that the platform added more than a million users per day and crossed 20 million users.
Threads need not feel threatened just yet since it is a much bigger platform in comparison and has more than 100 million daily active users. However, Bluesky’s approach to decentralised social internet is gaining more attention and Meta doesn’t want to stay behind. The fast rollout of custom feeds and the ability to share the custom feed shows Threads doesn’t want to stay ahead or stay competitive.
Now that you have created your custom feed on Threads, here’s a step-by-step guide to sharing your custom feed with others Threads users:
- Step 1: Tap and hold your feed seen on the top menu.
- Step 2: Select Edit feeds from the drop-down menu.
- Step 3: Now, click on the toggle next to Public feed.
- Once your feed is public, other Threads users will be able to see it from a new “feeds” tab under your profile but you can also share it.
- Step 4: Go to the Edit feeds menu again and tap on View feed.
- Step 5: Select the quote icon to post a preview of your custom feed.
- Step 6: You can share it with others by choosing the Share feed option and sending your custom feed as a link.

With the above steps, your custom feed on Threads becomes accessible to anyone and it’s a clever way to build connection over shared interests. If custom feeds got you excited, then you should know that Meta has already announced plans to bring ads to Threads.
