Google Search has always been a smart platform for getting answers to everything. However, that hasn’t stopped the developers from making the platform smarter over time. A new update now enables Google Search to take on complex trigonometry and calculus problems.
This will be of great help for students trying to get some help with their math homework (or skip it completely) but will also make math problem solving easier for everyone in general.
The update also lets Google Search’s new abilities work via Google Lens. This basically allows users to take a picture of a printed problem and get a solution directly from the image, without having to do the manual legwork. You may even be able to get the results from a hand-written or drawn problem unless your script looks exceptionally poor.
Capabilities aside, the best part of the new update is that every time you solve a problem, Google will not just throw you the final answer and call it a day. Instead, most of the important steps you need to get to the final answer will also be displayed. Now that is a real win for students looking forward to not just solving a problem but understanding the how behind the solution.
How to get the new Google Search math features
The new features are available directly on Google Search on the desktop. However, if you’re using the mobile app on Android or iOS, you may have to first ensure that the app is running on its latest version.
If you are on the latest version of Google Search, getting started is as easy as simply typing out your math problem in the search bar or using Google Lens to take a picture of said problem.
On a desktop, you can also put Google in math mode by typing in “Math Solver” into the search bar, but reports suggest this isn’t currently working, and may be something Google fixes later.

For now, you can freely and easily use Search to solve more than the usual addition, multiplication, and any other basic abilities that Ed Sheeran may make an album out of.
Go try it out, and remember, if your math teacher starts questioning your sudden boost in mathematical abilities, you didn’t hear about this hack from us.
