Google’s ‘Where’s Waldo?’ game celebrates 25 years of the search engine

Google recently celebrated 25 years of its search engine in typical Google fashion – by releasing a fun little game for its users. The new game, titled Google’s ‘Most-Searched Playground’ is the company’s own take on Where’s Waldo, a popular kids puzzle game where players hunt for the titular Waldo in a large setting full of characters and objects.

Google’s version, however, makes us hunt for the web’s most searched topics from over the years, 25 of them, to be precise. The more items you hunt for in the game, the more you understand about what the world has been searching about over the years. This includes everything from Naruto, the most-searched anime, to Ludwig Van Beethoven, the most-searched classical music composer.

How to play Google's Most Searched Playground game

To play the game, you can head to searchplayground.google and get started on smartphones, laptops or even tablets. All you have to do to get started, is look closely at the image and start clicking. Find the required shapes and you will start noticing a checklist on the left striking items off. Click on a other items, and you may get a hint of where to look for next.

That’s not quite the coolest bit though. For the Swifties (Taylor Swift fans, duh!). There is a hidden mini-game too. There are ten clues related to Taylor Swift, which are references to her songs. When you hunt them all down, you get a letter.

Along with the letter comes a hint related to a missing key, which can be used to open a website when all the given letters are put together. Remember Taylor Swift’s Google Vault challenge, where fans had to solve over 33 million puzzles before revealing five vault tracks for 1989 (Taylor’s Version)?

Whether it’s Barbenheimer, Spider-Man, or John Wick, the interactive game takes one on a whirlwind ride down memory lane, and we can’t wait to try it out for ourselves. Give it a whirl, folks!
