Best Android apps and games of 2023 revealed by Google

The last month of the year comes knocking at the door and with it brings a bouquet of recaps from our favourite platforms. Where some offer us a roundup of trends (read: Spotify Wrapped), others, like Google, reveal a list of apps and games that received the most love this year. These are further classified under User’s Choice, best for Fun, Personal Growth, Hidden Gem, and AI. Google Play Best of 2023: Top 3 apps and games

Google urged users to vote for their favourite apps (and games) in November and has rolled out a list with the results based on this count. Check out which apps took the best title this year:

Best overall app: Imprint: Learn Visually

Imprint: Learn Visually bagged the best overall app title this year for Google Play Best of 2023. Google, in a blog post, goes on to say how the app roped in ‘bite-sized lessons’ and ‘visual storytelling’ to bring concepts to life.

Best overall game: Honkai: Star Rail

The sci-fi app stood out as the best overall game, owing to its content, stunning visuals and thoughtful design. The blog post notes how Honkai: Star Rail delivers lasting entertainment for both role-playing game enthusiasts as well as newcomers. What’s more, this RPG also happens to be the best game on iPhones this year.

Best multi-device app: Spotify

Google awarded Spotify as the best multi-device app based on its ability to work smoothly across platforms. “We love how you can remotely control playback on another device and download tracks or episodes for offline playback,” it mentions in the blog post. 

Google Play Best of 2023: Other apps and games that bagged a title

Among other titles, Google also awarded ChatGPT with the Users’ Choice app award. The move is almost unsurprising after both AI and ChatGPT were used as buzzwords around the world. However, apart from this, several other apps and games shined in the Best of 2023 list. Here are some notable ones:
