Google launched its latest mid-range contender, the Pixel 9a, in India and global markets. In a surprising move, the company has priced the Pixel 9a lower than its predecessor, the Pixel 8a, at launch, marking a refreshing change from the usual trend of rising prices.

While the ‘a’ series has often been criticised for creeping too close to flagship territory in terms of cost, this year’s pricing strategy makes the Pixel 9a a more compelling option for budget-conscious buyers.

Google Pixel 9a: Price in India

Google has priced the Pixel 9a at Rs 49,999 for the base 8GB + 128GB variant. The higher end 8GB + 256GB variant is priced at Rs 56,999. Notably, the Pixel 9a is Rs 3,000 cheaper than its predecessor, the Pixel 8a, at launch. However, the Pixel 8a prices have now dropped, and you can snag one for as low as Rs 37,999.

The smartphone will be available for purchase starting April 2025 through Google’s official store, as well as select online and offline retailers.

Google Pixel 9a: Specs overview

The Google Pixel 9a features a 6.3-inch FHD+ pOLED display. It is powered by Google’s Tensor G4 processor, paired with 8GB of RAM, and runs on Android 15 with 7 years of OS and security updates. The phone boasts a 48MP primary camera, a 13MP ultrawide lens, and a new macro mod.

Battery life has been upgraded with a 5,100mAh capacity, supporting 23W wired and 7.5W Qi wireless charging. Additionally, the Pixel 9a now has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
