Google’s recently launched Pixel 9 series is full of interesting design choices, and plenty of AI features. However, one of its most underrated features is something Google hasn’t exactly raved on about. A display feature called Adaptive Touch lets you use the Android phone with ease when you have wet hands or a wet screen. Here’s how to use it.
Google Pixel 9: What is Adaptive Touch?
Adaptive Touch is a feature on the new Pixel 9 series that lets you use the screen better when touch sensitivity is affected by environmental factors, like a wet screen when you pull out the phone in the rain. As many of us already know, water on the screen leads to mistouches and ghost touches. Adaptive screen prevents that.

When enabled, the feature uses complex algorithms to boost the touch sensitivity of the display when it detects other substances like water on the screen. However, as mentioned above, users do need to manually enable the feature first – a move that we assume would result in your battery life being ever-so-slightly affected.
How to enable Adaptive Touch on the Pixel 9
To enable the feature on your Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL or Pixel 9 Pro Fold, simply head to Settings > Display > Touch sensitivity and you should see two options here. The first one, called ‘Adaptive touch’ is the feature we have been talking about. Simply turn the toggle on to enable the feature.

You can also use the second feature on this page, called ‘Screen protector mode’. As the name suggests, the feature boosts your display’s touch sensitivity when you have a thick screen protector applied, so as to avoid any reduction in the seamless use of your phone’s display panel.
That’s how you enable the new features on the Pixel 9. Stay tuned to Unboxed by Croma for more tips and tricks on the Pixel 9 series, and all things tech.
