Google’s hottest feature for smartphones right now is Gemini AI. And it is doing everything it can to let people easily access it and use it, in a bid to stay ahead of the AI race. Now, it appears to bring an easier way to access Gemini AI, as the tool may sit on your lock screen.
Yes, you heard that right. No need to unlock the phone and open the Gemini app to access it, rather, you may be able to access it with one tap on the lock screen. Read on to learn more about Gemini’s possible new destination on your device.
Google may put Gemini AI on your Android’s lock screen
According to a report by Android Authority, Google in Android 15 QPR1 Beta 2, is testing an AI button on the lock screen. This AI button is presumed to be the Gemini AI assistant, which people can access with just a single tap. This will enable a quicker and easier way of interacting with Gemini.
While this AI button is placed on the lock screen in the latest beta, it isn’t performing any action as of now, as per the report. It appears that Google is just testing its place and what it plans to do with it in this beta.
However, it could trigger the Gemini AI chatbot or bring up useful AI tools, we’ll know its exact use case once it’s fully functional in further releases. But if it’s the former, it will make accessing Gemini AI easier.

It’s worth noting that Google, as of now, offers multiple ways of accessing the Gemini AI chatbot on Android. Users can press and hold the power key to access it on new Android phones, like the Google Pixel 9 series.
A long press on the home button can also invoke Gemini. Gemini can also be summoned by saying “Hey Google” or “Ok Google” commands. If the Gemini AI action button comes to your lock screen, Google will give you a fourth way of accessing Gemini.
