Earlier this week, Google announced the latest generation of its AI model Gemini, Gemini 2.0, making it the most advanced artificial intelligence tool to exist as of today. The company, in a statement, also mentioned how the model will be the most capable model yet and will mark the beginning of a new ‘agentic era’. Gemini 2.0 ushers in the new agentic AI era for the company, meaning it can employ artificial intelligence systems that can independently accomplish your tasks along with providing adaptive decision-making. This could mean anything from scheduling an email to shopping for your essentials using only a prompt.

According to Google, Gemini 2.0 will feature multiple agents that can be of help across a variety of fields, such as providing real-time gaming suggestions or picking out a gift for someone you know. Gemini 2.0 will moreover harbour goal-oriented behaviour, meaning it will additionally be able to create a task list based on steps and accomplish it accordingly.

Like Anthropic’s Claude, the AI tool may also soon be able to take over your browser to help you with tasks you need to get done, while you focus on other important tasks. Lastly, the company mentions how its new AI model will be able to provide users with ‘proactive’ or ‘intelligent’ solutions compared to its predecessor.

Gemini 2.0 Flash: Key features to look out for

Gemini 2.0 Flash will be the company’s first publicly available model within the series. Google also went on to describe it as the ‘workhorse’ of the series, owing to its low latency and enhanced performance. The model will support multimodal inputs, including videos, photos as well as audio, and also outputs, such as natively generated images, and text-to-speech audio across various languages.

If that’s not all, Gemini 2.0 Flash will also utilise other services, such as Google Search, a set of user-defined functions and even execute code when required.

Google Gemini 2.0: Availability details

Google mentioned how Gemini 2.0 is currently only being made available to developers and ‘trusted testers’ only. However, it will soon be integrated into services such as your smartphone‘s Google Search engine. Apart from that, users and developers, both, will be able to utilise the Gemini 2.0 Flash model on an experimental basis via the web client. The company further plans to have an app integration soon; however, the dates for an expected roll-out are yet to be revealed.
