Google has been in the news for rapid developments to its AI bot. Only last month, the company renamed Google Bard to Gemini and launched a new tiered subscription service for its users.
While rumours point toward a dedicated Android and iOS smartphone app, the company, for now, continues to make smaller, significant changes to the chatbot. In its latest update, Google has introduced a ‘modify’ feature, allowing users to tweak only a part of the response they receive. Curious about how it works? Read on.
Gemini Modify feature: How will it work?
AI chatbots, like ChatGPT and Google Gemini, previously allowed users to ‘edit’ a prompt if a user wanted to change or alter it later. However, Google has now implemented an option that will let users modify only a part of their generated answer. Using this feature, you will now be able to change your answer and make it longer, more elaborate, or completely change it — based on your requirements.
How to use the Gemini Modify feature
The feature, for now, only works for English language and on the Gemini desktop app. Here’s how to use it.
Step 1: Open Gemini on your browser and enter a prompt you wish to generate
Step 2: Once you get your desired response, select a word or a part of the text that you wish to change
Step 3: You will see a pencil icon on the highlighted text; click on it to modify the selection
Step 4: You then get four options – Regenerate, Shorter, Longer and Remove
Step 5: On clicking any of them, you will be able to change the context of your answer

Apart from that, you will also be able to change the prompt, say, for instance, from a 10-day workout plan to a 5-day plan, by replacing the word you selected.
Of course, Gemini has an option for you to regenerate the entire answer, but this feature essentially allows you only to change a portion for a more accurate response.
Keep in mind that it can only make changes to certain words and fine-tune them based on replaceable text.
