We have already seen the new Intel Core Ultra chipsets powering some of the best thin-and-light as well as creator-specific laptops of the year. Now, the on-device AI chips are set to be a part of some really powerful gaming laptops. One of the first of these is the new Dell Alienware x16 R2.

The Alienware x16 R2 is the next beefed up gaming laptop in the x-series, but it comes with more than just faster performance. Here’s all you need to know about the laptop.

Dell Alienware x16 R2: What’s new?

The new Dell Alienware x16 R2 comes with a 16-inch display, and like all newer Alienware machines, sports a 16:10 aspect ratio. This display is also a 2K panel that comes with 240Hz refresh rate for smooth gaming.

Powering the Dell Alienware x16 R2 is an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H chipset, which is the most powerful chip in the new Intel Core Ultra series, allowing for a max clock speed of 5.1GHz. This chip makes the x16 R2 a powerhouse for when you’re gaming or running other resource-heavy programmes.

This is coupled with up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 laptop GPU, which offers the best possible graphics quality on a laptop today, making sweet 4K gaming with ray-tracing and high-quality graphics a reality.

With NVIDIA’s range of RTX-exclusive features for gaming, working in tandem with the Core Ultra chipset, gamers also have access to tools like Nvidia Broadcast for powerful streaming features, as well as NVIDIA DLSS, which offers best-in-class AI upscaling and frame interpolation.

The laptop also features up to 32GB RAM and 8TB storage (using both SSD slots), along with Wi-Fi 7 support, Bluetooth 5.3 and an IR-powered FHD webcam with Windows Hello support. There is also a metal chassis for enhanced durability and as a result, the laptop weighs about 2.72kgs.

Other features include a per-key RGB keyboard and even an RGB trackpad. Rear-facing ports also mean desk setups look cleaner with all the wiring staying hidden. Meanwhile Alienware’s signature Cryo-tech cooling solution also keeps the laptop so cool, you will forget gaming laptops are supposed to heat up.

Dell Alienware x16 R2: Pricing and availability

The Dell Alienware x16 R2 starts at Rs 2,86,990 for the base variant and goes up based on the exact specifications you choose. The laptop is already available across leading online and offline retail channels in India.

If you’re ready to spend all out on your next gaming machine, you can also consider other options like the Asus ROG Strix Scar 16, which misses out on the Core Ultra chip, but adds in more RGB and a second productivity display in the trackpad!
