ChatGPT Search gets advanced voice mode, map integration

OpenAI rolled out ChatGPT Search a few months back with the ability to offer ad-free browsing and curated responses to your searches. Now, the AI-powered search engine has received two new features, including a new advanced voice mode, allowing you to search with voice inputs, and a map integration right inside the app.

ChatGPT Search is now also available to all users for free. Let’s look at all the new features of ChatGPT and how you can use them.

Everything new coming to ChatGPT Search

So far, ChatGPT Search allowed users to search using text inputs, but now with the latest update users can also search using voice inputs, thanks to the advanced voice mode. This means you no longer have to go through the process of typing everything, you can simply talk to ChatGPT Search to get search results.

OpenAI says that ChatGPT can automatically provide up-to-date information from the web when using the advanced voice mode.

Here’s how you can use the advanced voice mode for ChatGPT Search.

Step 1: To do a voice search, simply tap on the  audio waveform icon to enter the ChatGPT Search’s advanced voice mode.

Step 2: You can now compose your message, which is basically your search query.

Step 3: ChatGPT’s advanced voice mode will then offer the most up-to-date information in the form of search results.

ChatGPT Search’s voice search integration will be gradually rolled out over the next week to the paid users. Apart from the voice search mode, ChatGPT is also getting a map integration on mobile. This means when you search anything that opens up on a map will open up within ChatGPT.

For example, if you search nearby restaurants on an iPhone, then the result will open up on Apple Maps within ChatGPT. If the same search was done on an Android smartphone, it will open up on Google Maps within ChatGPT.

Additionally, when you look for a particular location, like a local attraction, ChatGPT will display a list of results that match your search query. This is similar to search results on Google Search. Apart from these features, OpenAI announced that ChatGPT Search is now available to all users for free.
