Bose QuietComfort Earbuds 2 first impressions

The company that invented noise-cancelling headphones is back with another product that promises to offer more of the same. Yes, we are talking of Bose. The audio giant’s QuietComfort series has consistently churned out stellar headphones, but what we have in our hands today is something much smaller. The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds 2 have arrived at our shores, and we got our hands on the buds. Read on as we share our first impressions.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds 2 design

In the design department, the second-gen earbuds are off to a strong start. Unlike the bulky and unflattering original QuietComfort Earbuds, the QuietComfort Earbuds II are visibly smaller and lighter. You can easily wear them outdoors or indoors without looking conspicuous. That said, they are still rather large when compared to some of the other more discreet-looking TWS available today.

The pill shaped design has been retained and improved, and Bose has also upped the levels of comfort and fit. If you’re unsure, the Bose Fit Kit includes three silicone ear tips of different sizes, and three stability bands to help you find the right fit. You can also do a fit test using the Bose Music app.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds 2 features

Pairing with a smartphone is quite easy via the Bose Music app. Once paired, there are a bunch of other controls on the app like equaliser, touch controls, and ANC modes. The app UI also gives a handy view of the battery percentage on each of the buds.

As for the buds themselves, they come laden with sensors that enable features like auto-pause audio when you pull out a bud, auto-shutoff, tap and swipe controls, and long press to cycle between ANC modes. In essence, everything you’d expect from a premium pair of truly wireless earbuds.

There are a few missing features though, which you get on competing earbuds. These include 3D spatial audio, wireless charging for the case, and multipoint Bluetooth pairing. Another big miss is earbuds tracking, which means you’ll need to be extra careful and mindful of the earbuds.

In the little time that we spent with the QC Earbuds 2, two things really stood out – audio and noise cancellation. A couple of music tracks that we played sounded good, but we will reserve our judgements for our detailed review. Noise cancellation was put to test in our noisy office and out on the balcony, and in both instances, it offered glorious isolation.

Our initial impressions of the QuietComfort Earbuds 2 are positive, and it does seem like Bose has another ace up its sleeves. Audio and noise cancellation levels are unsurprisingly high, which is what you expect from a pair of buds that cost Rs 25,900.
