With a rich background in PC gaming and a well-earned reputation for quality laptops with a great design, ASUS is a brand that needs no introduction. ASUS’s phones carry forward that reputation. The ROG or Republic of Gamers line is for gamers, while the Zenfone line targets everyone else with well-designed and feature-packed phones. Today, we’re going to take a look at the best ASUS phones with at least 8GB RAM. Why 8GB? ‘s because 8GB is that sweet-spot for the best multi-tasking and gaming experience.
5 best ASUS 8GB RAM phones to buy in 2024
Here are the five best ASUS phones 8GB RAM smartphones to buy in 2024:
1. ASUS 8z
2. ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro
3. ASUS ROG Phone 7
4. ASUS ROG Phone 7 Ultimate
5. ASUS ROG Phone 6
1. ASUS 8z
The ASUS 8z, aka Zenfone 8, aka Zenfone 8z is an older model but still a compelling option in 2024. It’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, which features an 8-core CPU and Adreno 660 graphics. It’s no slouch even today, and when paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage, holds its own on the performance front.

The display is a bright, Super AMOLED unit with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,100-nits of peak brightness. You get a 64MP primary camera with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide angle sensor, 8K video recording, and a 12MP selfie camera. The 4,000mAh battery also charges rapidly thanks to 30W PD3.0 support. Of course, all of this is packaged in a simple, elegant package that retails for Rs 42,999, making this quite a good deal.
2. ASUS ROG Phone 6
Another older, yet still brilliant smartphone, the ROG Phone 6 boasts of features and gaming prowess that many of today’s phones struggle to match. This includes an AMOLED touchscreen with a 165hz refresh rate, support for a whopping 10 billion colours, a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, Adreno 730 graphics, and up to 16GB of RAM for lag-free gaming and multitasking.
It retails for Rs 47,999 and comes with features like ASUS’ Air Trigger 6 system for prescient gaming input, a monster 6,000mAh battery, and a host of gaming-focused accessories designed to enhance the gaming experience.
3. ROG Phone 7
The more recent ROG Phone 7 gets a 1,500-nit display, the power of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Adreno 740 graphics, and a bump in base RAM from 8GB to 12GB. The storage is also faster, with UFS 4.0 support.
While the camera setup is largely similar, the selfie camera gets a big upgrade to 32MP. It’s a great gaming phone and is available for Rs 74,999.
4. ROG Phone 7 Ultimate
Available for Rs 99,999, the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate is a significant step up from the ROG Phone 7. The hardware is essentially the same, but the Ultimate edition phone ups the ante with a motorised cooling vent called the AeroActive Portal, and a secondary 2-inch OLED on the back so everyone knows that yours isn’t a normal phone. This might not seem like much, but that Portal is a game changer (literally), as it allows the phone’s internals to cool at a much higher rate, in turn allowing you to game at max performance for far longer than most phones can manage.
5. ROG Phone 8 Pro
Lastly, you have the current ASUS flagship phone, the ROG Phone 8 Pro. This one takes everything to the next level — even the price tag, to Rs 1,09,999. First up you have the display, which now hits a whopping 2,500nits of peak brightness and can sustain 1,600 nits. Then you have the chipset which is an upgraded Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and of course the RAM and storage which now go all the way up to 24GB and 1TB respectively. That’s more than what you’ll find on most gaming laptops!

The cameras get a huge boost in the quality department, storage is faster, the design is better, the phone is now dust and water-resistant (IP68), and there’s now an array of 341 LEDs that you can fully program to display any text, animation, or logo. This is a really cool phone at a high price, but for a gamer on the lookout for a snazzy new phone, it’s one that also has no equal!
ASUS offers a much larger portfolio of phones globally, but the ones currently available in India are primarily their premium gaming offering. These are great phones, and while expensive, offer features and design that few other smartphones in India can match.
