Apple launched the new Mac mini on Tuesday, powered by the M4 series chips. The new mini desktop PC truly lives up to its name with an even smaller and compact form factor. It now measures 5 by 5 inches, and despite its size, it has a 1.8x faster CPU and 2.2x faster GPU compared to the Mac mini M1 model.

M4 Mac mini specification and features
Apple’s latest Mac mini has a small footprint with less than half the size of the previous design. It’s just 5 by 5 inches, which means it will take up less space on your desk and make it portable. So, you can easily take your Mac mini with you to a hotel and connect it to a screen.

Apple says that the new Mac mini is 6x faster at one-twentieth the size of the best-selling PC desktops in the same price range. That’s because of the chipset inside. The latest mini is powered by M4 series chipset.
There are two models to choose from, Apple’s M4-powered model, which has a 10-core CPU, a 10-core GPU, and is paired with a base 16GB of Unified Memory. The other model packs Apple’s M4 Pro chipset, which has a 12-core CPU, a 16-core GPU, and 24GB of Unified Memory.
The M4-powered model offers 1.8x faster CPU performance and 2.2x faster GPU performance than the M1 Mac mini model. On the other hand, the Neural Engine in the M4 Pro-powered model is 3x faster than the M1 Mac mini.

In addition to the performance, the new Mac mini also comes with Apple Intelligence support. With macOS Sequoia 15.1, users can try the writing tools, resigned Siri, and more. More new Apple Intelligence features will be rolled out in December.
Coming to the ports, the Mac mini has a range of ports for connectivity. There are two USB-C ports with USB 3 support, an audio jack for connecting wired headphones, and three Thunderbolt 4 ports.
There’s also a Gigabit Ethernet port with up to 10Gb speeds and an HDMI port for connecting to a display. The M4 Pro model gets three Thunderbolt 5 ports, with the rest of the ports remaining the same as the M4 Mac mini.
Mac Mini with M4 chipset can support up to two 6K displays and up to one 5K display. The M4 Pro-powered Mac mini supports three 6K displays at 60Hz. That’s all about the new Mac mini powered by M4 chipset. Now, let’s see its price and availability.
