1. HP Deskjet Ink Advantage Ultra 4929

An ideal printer for a home office, the HP Deskjet Ink Advantage Ultra 4929 is available for Rs 8,099 on Croma. It’s a thermal inkjet printer with scan and copy functions built in, and being rated at 7.5 ppm for document printing, it’s quite fast.

Despite being an InkJet, it’s an economical printer with HP claiming an output capacity of 2,600 black or 1,400 colour prints per box. The monthly duty cycle is rated at 1,000 pages, which is fine for a home office or small office environment.

2. HP Laser MFP 1188w

For heavier use we’d recommend you go for the HP Laser MFP 1188w. This is a multi-function document printer that prints in black and white. It has the usual print/scan/copy functions and wireless connectivity of course, but since this is designed for a heavier load, it has a monthly duty cycle of 10,000 pages.

It can also print 20 copies a second, boasts of a larger 100-page output tray, and more. It even supports Apple AirPrint. This printer is available on Croma for Rs 18,899.

If you need colour prints of documents in large volumes, perhaps you should look at the HP Smart Tank 585. This is an ink tank printer and is thus much cheaper to use compared to inkjet technology. Print quality isn’t good enough for photos, but it’s great for documents and slides, which is what this printer is designed to handle. With a monthly duty cycle of 3,000 pages, this printer can handle the needs of a small office with ease.

It also includes a scanner that can manage 1,200dpi document scans at a 24-bit colour depth. Overall, a great package for Rs 13,999.

4. HP Ink Tank 316

The HP Ink Tank 316 is a budget-friendly option that we’d recommend for homes/home offices that need a small volume of prints. It’s available for Rs 5,194 and uses ink tank technology for highly economical prints. Monthly duty cycle is rated at 1,000 prints and connectivity is limited to USB 2.0.

It does come with print/copy/scan functionality, however, which is nice to have. The printer can manage two copies per minute for up to nine copies, and it can print at the rate of 6.5 pages per minute. 

5. HP Laser Wireless 714Z9A

If you don’t need scan and copy functions, you can go for the HP Laser Wireless 714Z9A printer and save some money. It’s a great buy at Rs 12,999 and works reliably and quickly. It’s a single function printer that prints 20 pages per minute at a rated duty cycle of 10,000 pages per month. It’s also convenient to use as it connects via both USB and Wi-Fi.
