With time, directors are turning towards Apple iPhones to film movies. In fact, some popular movies shot on different models of iPhone include Tangerine (2015), 9 Rides (2016), Sleep Has Her House (2017), and Unsane (2018), among many others.
The newest member to be added to this list is 28 Years Later, a Zombie flick scheduled to release in theatres next year. While other movies on the list were either experimental or meant for niche audiences, 28 Years Later, will be the first large-scale movie to be shot on an iPhone.
The trailer of the movie was recently revealed on social media, and viewers mention how it is stunning, harrowing, and intriguing at the same time. Here’s everything that you should know about the movie.
28 Years Later trailer released
28 Years Later is a part of the 28 Days Later franchise, and it will be coming to theatres in 2025. As per WIRED, the movie has entirely been shot on an iPhone.
For those unaware, 28 Days Later was released in 2002 and was the first genre-defining movie that features Zombies at a scarily fast pace instead of the otherwise sluggish portrayal adopted by various flicks. It was followed by 28 Weeks Later in 2007. The combination of director Danny Boyle and cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle have worked on both films together. In 2009, they even won their Oscars together for Slumdog Millionaire.
The dynamic duo reunites for 28 Years Later, and this time around, they have chosen to use an iPhone 15 Pro Max to shoot the movie. But not one specific phone, as he may have used several multiple devices across the iPhone 15 series throughout the filming of the movie. Fans, after watching the trailer have widely speculated how Cillian Murphy may return as a zombie in the upcoming movie. While there is no confirmation by the team, fans believe this is because the Academy Award-winning actor was a part of the 28 Days Later movie and there is a zombie showcased in the trailer that resembles the Oppenheimer actor. Well, only time will tell if he is a part of the movie!
